McArthur & Company published an edition in Canada in 2007

This book was not published in the United States

I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to Brett Courtenay for arranging for me to receive a signed copy

It proved to be a very difficult book to write as Bryce found it challenging to source enough research material from this Medieval period in history. However, he persisted until the book was completed and there are many readers who loved it. Not everyone though, and in 2007 Bryce abandoned writing the sequel, and instead began writing The Persimmon Tree.
